Description
San Diego County Medical Examiner's identified a driver involved in the Monday night collision that killed one police officer and severely injured another as 16-year-old Edgar Oviedo.
According to the Medical Examiner's office, Oviedo was driving a BMW sedan eastbound on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and laterally collided with an SDPD patrol unit that was heading northbound. The two cars crashed into each other at the road's intersection on Doliva Drive.
Thursday morning, workers took down two City of San Diego surveillance cameras at the intersection. Two members of the California Highway Patrol's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Teams (MAIT) told CBS 8 they were being taken down as part of the investigation and couldn't comment any further.
