September 19, 1966 At the Oceanside Annual Invitational Surfing Contests yesterday Corky Carroll of Dana Point took double honors—he won the men’s title and was also named outstanding competitor. Joey Hamasaki, also of Dana Point took the women’s title and David Nuuhiwa of Newport Beach won the junior crown. Those three secured places on the United States Surf Team which will compete in the World Surfing Championships at Ocean Beach October 1st and 2nd. And according to the script, the lovely young lady caught our cameraman’s eye.
