Meet Kellan | Halfway through their pregnancy, Kellan’s parents found out he had a ventricular septal defect (hole in heart). At just 4 days old, Kellan had surgery. Since then, he has had many visits to Rady Children’s Hospital and more open-heart surgeries to keep his heart healthy. In just a few weeks, he'll return for a procedure to place a new pacemaker. CBS 8 is working with Rady Children’s to help raise much-needed funds to launch a Resident Canine Therapy Program to help ease the pain and suffering of children who are patients at Rady Children’s Hospital.
