Description
Dozens of families made their way to honor Jesus and learn about the meaning behind Easter Sunday during a special mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Chula Vista.
“It's a beautiful day for us, a great joy,” Diesis San Diego Auxiliary Bishop Michael Pham said.
It's the most popular day of the year for churches and most commonly honored in Asian countries, Mexico and parts of South America.
“It's important, gives some hope to families and the youngest generations,” Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Attendee Leigh Benzaia said.
For many people in attendance, it's a tradition to come together in mass as a community like Vicky Luna who brought her niece and nephew to church before they do any other Easter festivities.
“Because it's very important for them to know about their religion, their faith and to know why we celebrate Easter,” Luna said.
