Description
A 7-mile stretch of the tracks shut down in San Clemente in January after a landslide by the route. That stretch has shut down four other times in the past 3 years.
Work on a 200-foot-long retaining wall to protect the tracks from additional falling debris near Mariposa Point wrapped up last week, clearing the way for resumption of passenger rail.
While the repairs were being made, passengers had to take a bus around the repair work. For example, those heading north out of San Diego had to get on a bus in Oceanside and take it to Irvine.
