070367 HARBOR ISLAND By this time next year, San Diegans will have a new park to enjoy, built in this scenic area overlooking San Diego harbor and adjacent to the new Harbor Island. Construction crews are erecting the restroom buildings in the park area, and eventually the grounds will be planted and equipped with picnic tables, gardens and walkways. At least four large marinas have been proposed for the island itself and installation of utilities on the manmade stretch of land is expected to begin in a bout a month. It won’t be long before Shelter Island will have its counterpart in Harbor Island, adding still another scenic feature to the San Diego waterfront.
