At Oceanside, some 8,500 people showed up at the Beach Stadium to witness the selection of Miss Southern California yesterday afternoon.
Master of Ceremonies and chairman of the pageant, Gene Geil, paraded the forty contestants before the crowd and judges as the big climax to Oceanside’s Harbor Days.
Judges Gale Gordon of the Lucy Show, Frank Forsyth of Disneyland and Regis Philbin, a familiar Channel 8 performer now on the Joey Bishop Show had the chore of selecting the new winner.
When the balloting was over they had chosen Windy Harris of Arcadia second runner-up, Bonnie Rawlings Perris Valley first runner-up and the title of Miss Southern California 1967 went to 17-year-old Janet Rogers of Indio.
