For the second time in the past six months, a well-attended rave party has popped up in Sorrento Valley, underneath the I-805 bridges. Hundreds of people showed up for Saturday night’s party. This time, the CHP responded with a helicopter loudspeaker to break up the party. The event is illegal because it was held on state land owned by Caltrans. The law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction is the California Highway Patrol, which deployed a helicopter telling the crowd to disperse or arrests would be made. The strobing lights and sound apparently were powered by a generator, hiked in on foot, as the staging area is not accessible by vehicle. Access to the area was from the west through an industrial complex with a large parking lot. Teenagers and young adults could be seen leaving after the CHP announcement telling them to leave.
