Description
The City of San Diego is set to replace the existing basketball courts and playground on Mission Bay Park in South De Anza, bringing good news for families who visit the courts and playground.
Many who frequent the park say the basketball courts are in poor condition and are unsafe for those who use them. They also say the lack of maintenance from the city makes playing basketball almost impossible. CBS 8 reached out to the City of San Diego about the concerns from the community. The city says the courts are slated for full replacement.
"The project is in final design stages and should go to bid early next year,” a statement from the city reads.
Families say the improvements can't come soon enough.
“It would be really nice if it was in better condition," said one resident.
People who frequent Mission Bay Park say they enjoy going to the park for the stunning views.
"It’s a beautiful location, it's very scenic it looks like it just needs a little bit of love," added Anna Stein, who visited the park from out of town.
