Description
San Diego-based Dr. Kwane Stewart, who founded Project Street Vet, received the CNN Hero of the Year Award on Sunday. As part of his award, he received a $100,000 grant for his nonprofit which he immediately announced to award out evenly to the other nine finalists for the award.
Of course, San Diego Foundation heard this news and decided we wanted to make a $90,000 grant to Project Street Vet to “make them whole” on their grant award. We’re still working out details and haven’t announced this news, but I’d like to give CBS 8 the exclusive to report on it or host an in-studio interview with Dr. Stewart and an SDF representative, especially since the station has reported on him in the past.
