Description
The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is happening this Sunday. If you plan on going, be aware that e-scooters and electric bikes are banned at the Embarcadero. Enforcement for these new rules started Thursday.
It's common to see pedicabs with colorful lights riding along San Diego's Bayfront. Going forward motorized pedicabs, e-bikes and electric scooters will not be allowed in pedestrian zones like piers and sidewalks.
"I'll just have to ride in the street but the problem is there are no bike lanes," John said.
John has ridden his e-bike around the harbor for years.
"I do understand but it's just too bad. It always happens throughout my lifetime that the few always ruin it for the many," he said.
The Port of San Diego passed the new regulations to keep the walkways clear and safe, and have been considering the idea since May. They also created a rule to prohibit pedicabs from playing loud music.
