The Port of San Diego could move one step closer Tuesday to allowing Topgolf to build a venue along the waterfront on East Harbor Island. The commissioners will vote on whether to sign a term sheet with Topgolf. If approved, a lease agreement can be drafted for consideration by the board sometime next year. The estimate on the project cost is $61 million. The minimum estimate for rent is $1.5 million a year. However, the projected rent is closer to $2 million. There is opposition from some members of the community who say this is not the way this land should be used.
