Description
Drivers in Spring Valley say they are fed up with dodging deep potholes in the La Presa neighborhood. They say they reported the potholes on Saint George Street to San Diego County several times but feel like they're being ignored.
While Working for You, CBS 8 drove Saint George Street between Gillespie Drive and Leland Street to see what it was like and felt deep potholes. CBS 8 also reached out to county officials regarding maintenance and learned it is a private road and therefore not required to be maintained by San Diego County employees.
But neighbors CBS 8 spoke with have safety concerns.
“A lot of people try to avoid the potholes and oncoming traffic and it gets very dangerous,” said Manny Barron, a Spring Valley driver.
Residents are not just concerned about their cars.
“They are dangerous for children. There is a school right there,” said Spring Valley driver Reuben Flores.
The street is used as a short cut around Jamacha Street, some said.
