The pilot of a Cessna P210 plane died after crashing into a La Jolla neighborhood Wednesday night. Story Update November 20, 2023: The pilot was identified as Michael Mehdi Salour, 74, of Carlsbad, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner. He was the sole occupant of the plane. Around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, the pilot reported to the traffic control tower that he was running out of fuel. Air traffic controllers then lost connection with him and nothing further was heard from the aircraft after that time. After an extensive search, San Diego Police and Fire found the downed plane Thursday around 3:00 a.m. on a hillside just south of La Jolla Village Drive and Gilman Drive.
