For more info visit: https://cleansd.org/ To commemorate “America Recycles Day” on Wednesday, November 15th, Pechanga Arena will host an electronic waste collection event in conjunction with EnviroGreen Electronic Recycling Services, a local leader in the field of responsible electronics recycling. The event is designed to put unwanted electronics back into service or recycle them responsibly, keeping e-waste from local landfills. The event will be a fundraiser for Veterans Village of San Diego, a local organization that assists local veterans with a broad range of services such as housing, healthcare and mental health counseling. The “mega-event” is free to the public and will be staged in the parking lot at Pechanga Arena, 3500 Sports Arena Boulevard, from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 15th. All electronic items – anything with a plug or a battery – may be dropped off at the drive-through distribution. Most electronic items will be accepted at no cost, allowing participants to avoid paying landfill fees and adding to landfill levels. A nominal fee will be charged for collection of some items, such as refrigerators. Secure paper shredding will also be available for $5 per “banker’s box” and secure destruction of hard drives will be available for $10 per drive. EnviroGreen will make a monetary donation to Veterans Village of San Diego based on the amount of e-waste collected. “We are proud to host such a meaningful event that both helps protect the environment and supports those that served our country,” says Steve Eckerson, General Manager at ASM Global/Pechanga Arena. “We’re able to give back to the community in two distinct ways by inviting people to come to Pechanga Arena and be a part of this special day through the recycling event and with Veterans Village being the beneficiary.” The Environmental Protection Agency established America Recycles Day to recognize the importance and impact of recycling and the protection of our environment.
