The grand opening of Macy’s small format store at Santee Trolley Square gathered a large crowd for doors to open. This location is the first in San Diego County and California, CBS 8 reported in May. “I had it marked on my calendar and I got up extra early to be here,” Macy’s customer Beth Bowden said. The retailer designed this new format as a way to make shopping quick and convenient for customers. “It avoids traffic especially with a toddler and a child and a baby," Macy's customer Carolina Rodarte said. "It's something that I really like, the convenience,” she said. The store is about a fifth the size of a standard Macy’s department store with clothes, cosmetics, fragrances and more.
