Description
The University of San Diego announced Wednesday that their Executive Director of Athletics, Bill McGillis will be leaving the school for "another professional opportunity."
McGillis has led the USD Athletics programs since 2016 after coming to San Diego from the University of Southern Mississippi.
The timing of the announcement follows a lawsuit filed against the school by a former football player. Just last week, a freshman quarterback at the University of San Diego filed a lawsuit claiming sexual hazing by football players inside on-campus locker rooms. In the lawsuit, the former player alleges he was forced to participate in a so-called "rookie show" inside the USD locker room where upper-class football players drank booze and used drugs, while about 30 rookies were coerced to perform graphic sexual acts and dance naked.
In the school's announcement, it made no mention of the lawsuit. The school says the investigation is ongoing and wouldn't comment any further.
