The Rady Shell in San Diego closed a portion of its popular promenade to pedestrians on Friday during music superstar Ed Sheeran’s private, sold-out concert. In a memo obtained by CBS 8, the chief of the Harbor Police Department made a recommendation to the Port of San Diego to shut down a walkway in the promenade. The memo cites Ed Sheeran’s massive popularity and limited tickets as a possible safety hazard if large crowds overwhelm the promenade, obstructing emergency access to The Shell.
