September 22, 1976 The Helix Theatre closed after 28 years. The last movies that played there were Jaws and The Great Waldo Pepper. Jim Gordon chatted with owner Burton Jones about the good old days and the end of an era--making way for multiplexes. The theatre at 7980 La Mesa Blvd was demolished.
