February 4, 1961 The flying saucer mystery may be solved…they’re making them at San Diego State College. Many of the curious were attracted to Aztec Field to view the flight of a flying saucer. It was learned that a group of aeronautical engineering students selected the construction of the saucer as their class project and professor Robert L. Mastin stood by and watched as the students put the flying saucer through its paces. It would only rise to the height of one foot –but according to students, it was really all of the altitude the object was built for.
