Once known as the lemon capital of the world, Downtown Chula Vista will be completely transformed into a lemon-filled oasis for the 26th Annual Lemon Festival from 11am-6pm on Saturday, August 12 Lemon Drop Pastry Shop + Marauak will be participating in the event This year’s event will include 2 new activations: Lemon Squeeze Stand - Each hour there will be a Lemon Squeeze-off competition to find out who can squeeze the most lemon juice in a minute. Lemon Costume Contest - Best dressed adult, child and dog categories Lemon Costume Contest via social media day of Entertainment on 2 stages (1 on Third & Park and the 2nd on Third & E) “Tarty the Lemon” mascot, who will be stationed at the Lemon Orchard photo-opp area (next to Mmm… Cakes) Little Lemons kids area and will include giant inflatable attractions and interactive activities for kids, along with a Sesame place activation o MTS will have a Rapid 227 Chill Zone to showcase their 60 foot electric bus at Lemon Fest to promote the opening of our new Rapid Route, Rapid 227. This route is significant because it will connect Imperial Beach, the Iris Avenue Transit Center, and Otay Mesa. This will also be the first Rapid route using electric buses. The activation will bus will be a cool zone for attendees to cool off while at the event o This will be the first time the public can step inside the 60 ft electrical bus. o We’re also going to have chalk artists creating live lemon-themed masterpieces along the main walkway o Lemon Cook-Off with Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, CEO of Chula Vista Chamber Marcy Weaver, and San Diego Union-Tribune Arts & Entertainment Editor Pam Kragen as judges
