Another knockout win is expected for the National City Community Youth Athletic Center as Law Enforcement Officials Enter the Ring for Charity
The Community Youth Athletic Center (CYAC) and the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) announced plans to hold their 18th annual “Battle of the Badges” event on Saturday, June 17th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the USS Midway 910 N. Harbor Dr., San Diego, CA 92101.
Police officers from the San Diego Police Department, San Diego Sheriffs, National City Police Department, El Cajon Police Dept., U.S. Border Patrol, Oceanside Fire, Imperial Beach Lifeguard, Nevada Dept of Correction, Rancho Santa Fe Fire, Las Vegas Metro Police Department, United States Navy, United States Marines, Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve and National Guard will go head-to-head in the ring during the 10 scheduled bouts.
"Battle of the Badges” continues to be our marquee fundraiser each year and the event gets larger and larger providing a significant infusion of support to help us run CYAC,” said Clemente Casillas, President of the Board of Directors for CYAC. “We are very grateful for the support of boxers in helping the kids with their participation in these bouts. We are hoping for another huge crowd this year on June 17th and we’re expecting great boxing action as in the past.”
CYAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping youth off the streets and in school through boxing and mentoring programs. Based in National City, the CYAC features a boxing gym, as well as computer facilities and tutorial/enrichment mentoring center. Serving youth from eight to eighteen years of age, the facility can accommodate up to 100 kids per day.
