Liberty Station, one of San Diego's top destinations for shopping, dining, art and entertainment, originally served as one of the Navy's first footholds in Southern California. The 600-acre Naval Training Center (NTC) operated from 1923 to 1997 before transitioning to the 361-acre historic destination it is today.
