A man who told the group of hikers he was with Sunday night on El Capitan Hiking Trail that he was hot, tired, and thirsty, later died following symptoms of heat exhaustion. Several fire agencies from Barona, Lakeside, Santee, and Cal Fire responded to the 13000 block of Blue Sky Ranch Road in Lakeside around 6:45 p.m. to reports of a medical emergency. Dispatchers were told a man who appeared in his 20s complained to the group of hikers he was with that he was hot, tired, and thirsty, according to Lakeside Fire Protection District.
