A new Navy Development and Training Center for training senior enlisted men in new developments in shipboard maintenance and repair will be formally inaugurated tomorrow. The so-called industrial college to be commanded by Captain James W. Montgomery of Coronado, will be located at the old Naval Repair Facility and will use facilities of the ComCruDesPac engineering school. A two-year curriculum is planned to train men in 27 positions including boilerman, fire control technician, shipfitter, and so forth. Eventually, the school will accommodate 1800 Navy petty officers, second class and above, with an annual payroll of 13 million dollars.
