April 24, 1978 Bill Selby talks to students on the campus of UCSD. They were smoking marijuana out in the open. It was illegal but gadgets to smoke it were not. A man explains how they work. Folks on the street weren't as willing to discuss it. Even Governor Jerry Brown weighed in and told Bill it was a generational thing. Future San Diego police chief Bob Burgreen said no one had ever lit up in front of him but if he thought it was going to happen he let them know who he was--and then they don't--he laughed.
