June 23, 1990 Ernest and Kathleen Tolbert along with seven other families were given the keys to new homes courtesy of Habitat for Humanity. Former president Jimmy Carter and his wife Roslyn were big supporters of the organization. Carter told News 8's Greg Starddard that he enjoyed it and a very gratifying way to put his own pride in his country into practice. A lot of happy faces in Encanto on this day in 1990.
