Semper Fi & America’s Fund or "The Fund" https://thefund.org/
Local USMC veteran who found healing from PTSD through the support of his service dog.
Alex Torres was deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.
Following his tour of service, Alex developed PTSD, TBI, and sleep apnea as a result of various combat and training injuries.
When he returned home, Alex realized he could use extra support in his transition and sought out a service dog. He eventually got connected to a Belgian Malinois named Kong.
While Kong provides Alex with a sense of security when he is in public spaces, allowing him to get out more than he used to, he has also proved to be an incredible companion for his daughter who has autism.
With the financial support of food, a kennel, and training classes from Semper Fi & America’s Fund, Kong has become an integral part of the Torres family.
