March 11, 1992 Everyone knows our Larry Himmel loves to visit new and old places. Tonight Larry visits The Chicken Pie Shop—a San Diego landmark since 1938. The University Heights location was the third in 54 years. 78-year-old George Whidehead was the original owner and was still putting in 12-hour days. And talk about loyal customers--Marshall and Andrew sure loved the pies! Larry said the Chicken Pie Shop would be around to turn another generation of San Diegans into old time customers—how right he was. Thirty one years later, it’s still a San Diego favorite.
