The candy stripers of Hillside Hospital held their first annual hospital-hosted dinner with their parents last night. Thomas J. Andrews, Hillside administrator was master of ceremonies for the awards dinner program held at the Town and Country Hotel. Girls with the greatest number of volunteer service hours were honored. 19-year-old Barbara Coss has put in 500 hours work. The top awardee was 17-year-old Cathy Rae Fitzgerald, a senior at Hoover High School, who has contributed 807 volunteer hours at Hillside and Heartland Hospitals. Kathy received the Directors’ Award for her efforts…a fashionable purse. Several other youngsters were recognized for their work.
