Sports anchor Lyle Bond wrote: Cameraman Carl Gilman and I made--for me--an early morning visit to Pacific Beach where obviously it was a great day for surfing and surfers...and just watching--once can understand how the sport can get a grip on its devotees.
Bond interviewed sisters Sherry and Debbie Lynch. The Crawford High School students both started surfing three years prior and had their own surfboards. Neal Norris had seven years experience. He was practicing for an international contest. He was going to be in the juniors 3a and if he did well he would compete in 4a.
