Description
November 7, 1966
A rainstorm on Monday kept police busy answering calls on wind damage, but most of it was minor. Several signs were blown down, like this billboard at Highway 94 and 30th. Several trees were reported down in the street. This pepper tree blew over on Morrow Way near Washington Street. City crews cut them up and hauled them off to keep the streets open. But there were some streets that were closed to traffic because of high water. Mission Boulevard was closed between Oliver and San Jose Place. Traffic was rerouted down Bayside Lane and Strand Way. Several swimmers and surfers took advantage of the deep water to float up and down Mission Boulevard. The weather bureau said it wasn’t that the rainfall total was high, but that most of the rain feel in a short while, not giving it time to run off.
