Sergeant Mike Spivey, a retired U.S. Marine and former resident of Freedom Station I. While leading a foot patrol in Afghanistan, Mike was injured by an IED blast that resulted in the amputation of his left arm. After living at Freedom Station, Mike successfully transitioned to civilian life – he and Kris got married and now own their own home. With assistance from the foundation, Mike began a successful Paralympic snowboarding career competed in the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing.
