Hal Clement’s Words and Pictures
Larry Booth collected photos of San Diego County for the Title Insurance Company, and in 1985, for the San Diego Historical Society. He started collecting in 1951 and along with his wife Jane, they filed over 250,000 old pictures—and they were in the process of getting a million more from the Union Tribune. Then and now looks at Mission Valley, Old Town, Downtown, and Balboa Park shows how much had changed—or hadn’t in some cases. It’s a wonderful look back at the city in its early days and in 1985. They could not do a then and now on cows in Mission Valley and at the beach in La Jolla—by 1985 cows had moved to greener pastures.
