April 16, 1976 Moana Brigham Pitcher was a KFMB-TV legend. Behind all the famous faces, she was the driving force of the newsroom from 1972 until 2019. As this report indicates, she had about “six or seven jobs—all of which she does well.” Truer words can not be said. She was the newsroom manager when she retired, and we were genuinely concerned about facing a future without her. She put her heart and soul into newsroom operations and made everyone feel like family. She was a roller-skating champion too! So in 1976 TV 8’s Barney Morris put the camera on her to discuss that other thing she was so good at. And as he noted “22-year-old Moana Brigham is a girl you notice right away because she’s pretty.” We still miss her but after 47 years of dedicated service, she is enjoying well-deserved retirement—and that makes us happy.
