Description
March 20, 1986
The Elephant Bar, La Jolla. It had only been open a few weeks when the Unknown Eater checked out the new yuppie hangout. (It was previously Rodeo, a popular bar/restaurant, and Rock Bottom after). Elephant Bar was successful in Santa Barbara, so they decided to try out the San Diego market. Great food and drinks attracted customers for many years, long after the term yuppie died out. For those of you who don't know what a yuppie is...it was a quintessential 1980s term--young urban professional. The chain restaurant has only one location in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
