Description
July 30, 1987
Los Lobos made it to the top 40 for the first time in 1987 with their hit La Bamba. They recorded it for the film about Richie Valens. In 1987 the East Los Angeles band had already been together for thirteen years. Jody Hammond and photojournalist Steve Renne caught their act at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. Riding the wave of success, guitarist Louie Perez said “family seems to keep everything in perspective…it’s something that comes natural to us and if it comes across positive to people, that’s great too.”
