July 1991 They didn't take reservations so you had to prepare to wait in a long line. But the line was part of the fun. With surroundings as beautiful as Bazaar del Mundo in Old Town, it added to the experience. It was the kind of place you wanted to take out of town visitors to. The vibrant colors of the Bazaar, the shops, and of course, this fantastic restaurant. Service was quick so if you got hungry waiting in line, your order would likely arrive quickly. Food was fantastic and the price was right. "Known Eater" Jim Blankenship said the Especial de Juan was one of Pico's finest...excellent carne asada and guacamole. Fortunately Casa de Pico still exists but in a different location--in La Mesa at Grossmont Center. Awesome Mexican food--a San Diego institution.
