Description
Fourth of July 1976
On America’s 200th birthday, TV 8 sent its cameras out all over the county to document celebrations. The Spirit of ’76 was evident at Mission Bay where Greg Day created a helium balloon sculpture of the American flag. He spent three hours shaping 280 balloons into the 12x24 foot flag. The Official City of San Diego parade was in Clairemont. A 70-pound 36x58 foot stars and stripes was draped over the First Presbyterian Church in downtown San Diego. This is really neat—at 11 am The San Diego Mission de Alcala’s bells rang for two minutes--in unison--with thousands of others around the nation.
