Description
Saturday will be an active weather day for Central Ohio. 10TV Weather Impact Alert Day is in effect for a line of gusty storms moving through Saturday morning and again for a few storms this evening that may bring heavy rain and high wind at times. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Columbus metro and counties north and west of the city until 8PM, although all of our area has the potential for high wind at times throughout Saturday.
This morning, showers and a few pop-up storms will move into Central Ohio between 7 AM and 10 AM. Most storms will be relatively quick, but may bring gusts of wind greater than 40 mph at times, with one or two storms possibly bringing wind greater than 50 mph. After 10 AM, we will experience a lull in our rain and storm threat. Then, late afternoon through the evening, another line of showers and storms will develop. These storms will mostly bring a heavy rain and minor flooding threat, but one or two storms could once again bring wind gusts greater than 50-60 mph, which may cause isolated damage to structures and vehicles.
The threat for high wind will start to diminish after 8 PM, but we will still be gusty overnight with a few showers possible through Sunday. Temperatures overnight will drop into the upper 50s, and Sunday's high temperature of 60 will occur early in the morning.
As showers start to diminish throughout Sunday, temperatures will slowly fall through the 50s during the afternoon. By Sunday evening, temps will be in the 40s, and our sky will clear. The lack of cloud cover overnight Sunday into Monday will allow temps to dip back into the low to mid-30s for Monday morning.
Monday will be a cooler day with highs near 50 degrees, but we will see plenty of sunshine. Our early week cooldown will be short-lived, as more sun is expected through midweek alongside a wind shift. This will bring highs back into the 60s on Tuesday and low-70s on Wednesday. Then, a strong system will bring a cold front through the lower Great Lakes on Thursday, bringing high temperatures back into the low to mid-40s with a chance of brief mixed precipitation before drying out heading into next weekend.
