Antoine Devemy, head of the Joint Laboratory Service (SCL) of Paris, highlights the rise of new psychoactive substances (NPS) such as nitazenes, recently discovered in Réunion. As the government intensifies its anti-drug efforts, customs data for 2024 shows a 27% increase in synthetic drug seizures, including 1,677 kg of ecstasy (+263%) and 451 kg of amphetamines (+57%).
