Description
Yoko the chimpanzee arrives to a sanctuary in Sorocaba Brazil to reunite and socialize with other chimpanzees. Yoko travelled on Sunday March 23 to Brazil from Colombia in the company of his veterinarian Javier Guerrero.
His caretakers are crossing their fingers that he will be accepted by other primates. The chimpanzee, illegally acquired by a drug trafficker, was seized by the police in 2017 and then survived the flooding of the first shelter he arrived at.
"The expectation is that he will finally be able to interact with a group of chimpanzees and possibly also be able to reproduce, as he is intact [he can still reproduce], in good health and physical condition," Guerrero tells the AFP.
