Description
A sixth-grade student was struck and killed by an unoccupied vehicle outside Washington Middle School Thursday afternoon, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The Seattle Police Department said it is investigating the incident during which a 12-year-old was killed. Seattle Fire crews responded to the incident and said the child died at the scene.
Seattle Public Schools (SPS) confirmed one of its students was struck and killed while walking to recess around 12:30 p.m. The student was on the sidewalk at the time, according to police.
According to preliminary information from police, the vehicle that struck the student was "unattended" at the time. The driver of the vehicle failed to properly park the vehicle and it rolled about 75 yards down a hill on 20th Place South before striking the student.
