Description
The King 5 Investigators are committed to uncovering fraud, waste and injustices in our community. Each month we're putting together a roundup of investigations that garner results.
In the March episode, here are the four stories we're spotlighting:
1. Growing evidence is showing that the gun hundreds of police officers are carrying in Washington could fire without the trigger being pulled. KING 5 Investigator Chris Ingalls reveals cases across the country and what’s being done to keep officers safe.
2. A gap in Washington state law is allowing repeat harm to children with no accountability, some families say. KING 5 Investigator Kristin Goodwillie finds a state children endangerment law calls for tough penalties when people expose kids to meth, but not when kids are exposed to fentanyl.
3. Child welfare advocates gathered at the Washington state capitol in early February to demand action. KING 5 Investigator Kristin Goodwillie looks into the growing number of critical incidents happening under the supervision of Child Protective Services.
4. An online scam is on the rise in western Washington, targeting elderly people. KING 5 Investigator Susannah Frame exposes how an Olympia woman lost her life savings to fraudsters in a gold coin scam – and how banks have no duty to protect you from it.
