Description
Data from some of Washington's biggest counties showed it's shaping up to be the worst flu season in the state since 2022.
According to the Washington State Department of Health (DOH), flu activity within the state is very high, with 143 reported deaths and 140 flu-like outbreaks in long-term care facilities since October.
The highest spike in flu activity appears to have come in the first week of February. That week, between 7-10% of hospital visits were for influenza-like illnesses, eclipsing an early peak this season at the end of December.
The data matches trends in some of Washington's biggest counties. King, Pierce, Snohomish and Spokane are all reporting the most elevated flu numbers since a particularly hard-hitting season that spanned the fall 2022 to winter 2023.
