Description
Avery Moore is resigning as Tacoma's police chief.
Moore submitted his resignation to City Manager Elizabeth Pauli on Tuesday. His resignation is effective Monday, Feb. 3, according to the city.
Tacoma operates under a city manager form of government, meaning Pauli will oversee the appointment of an interim chief before a permanent replacement is hired.
"I was a little surprised. I wasn't expecting his resignation, but it's a tough job. He's the one who gets to make the best decision for himself and his family," said Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards. "I wish him continued success and good luck."
