A lawsuit filed by the family of a University Place man who drowned over the summer alleges Parks Tacoma knew of the dangers that caused his death. On July 8, with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees in some areas, 68-year-old Robert Logan Jr. and a friend went to cool off in the waters off Titlow Beach, according to the lawsuit. The two were on floats, but as Logan disembarked to exit the water, he was sucked under by a whirlpool, through a culvert pipe and into Titlow Lagoon. "His friend turned around and looked and he wasn't there," said Ashton Dennis, the attorney with Washington Law Group who is representing the family. "The floatie was there and it was clear that he was in this vortex."
