Sen. Maria Cantwell said her longtime record of public service has earned her a fifth term in the U.S. Senate. Cantwell, D-Washington, was first elected to the Washington state House in 1986. She served one term in Congress as a representative from 1993-1995 before being elected to the Senate in 2000. Cantwell is running against Dr. Raul Garcia, a Republican who added "Dr." to the front of his name to stand out on the primary election ballot.
