Description
As you plan for your weekend, the Safeway for U app can help make gameday affordable and delicious. The app shows you the latest deals on foods you love and provides recipes for a perfect gameday menu.
“Nowadays, we live with technology,” said Safeway chef ambassador Joel Gamoran. “Use the Safeway app. Before you go to the store, see what’s on sale.”
Using deals on the app for inspiration, Gamoran created a recipe for loaded jalapeno popper fries and has helpful tips for achieving well-cooked fries in your kitchen.
“Most people, when they roast french fries at home, they typically suck,” he said. “They’re not crispy enough. They’re soggy. They just limp over. You need really good olive oil.”
Gamoran also says it’s important to make sure your oven’s temperature is high enough.
“You need to turn your ovens up,” he said. “450 degrees, none of this 375.”
Once the homemade fries are done, you’ll top with a homemade crema, bacon and scallions, and add chilis if you want a kick.
“When you’re serving this, you want it to kind of go up towards whoever is eating it,” Gamoran said. “That’s a secret of restaurant food. We eat with our eyes first.”
You can find recipes like this, as well as weekly deals and exclusive offers on the Safeway for U app. Gamoran will also be providing fresh content weekly.
“My company Homemade is teaming up with Safeway to teach people how to cook for free,” he said.
Safeway will be providing a weekly 45-minute class that will be an interactive experience for viewers.
“Not only are they giving you the best ingredients, but they’re showing you how to use those ingredients,” Gamoran said.
