A fire burning in Yakima County has closed roads and forced Level 3 evacuations in the area. The Retreat Fire is burning 2,200 acres near Naches and is growing rapidly, according to the Naches Fire Department. The fire jumped the highway and Tieton River, which forced US 12 to close in both directions near Rimrock Retreat, or milepost 173. There is no estimated time for reopening. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, eastbound traffic is stopped at the White Pass summit and westbound traffic is stopped at Oak Creek.
